Begin with the cleanest file available. Compare edges, eyes, hair, and fine patterns at full size after processing. Excessive sharpening can introduce halos around line art; a restrained result often looks better on a large display.

Save the original separately. Export the final image at dimensions suited to your screen, and compare both light and dark areas for artifacts before setting it as wallpaper.
